Flashtxt Message Formats

Each Flashtxt promotional message has a number of key components: An optional Greeting, the Offer; your Business Name; your Address / Contact details; and a Reference Code. You can tailor the information within some of these components but we like to keep a similar format for all messages so that your potential customers know what to expect.

Each of your messages is limited to a total of 140 characters. (We have set aside about 20 characters for the mandatory Reference number bringing the total to the 160 character maximum for an SMS message). As you enter information into each field in our message setup form, you will be given a running count of the number of characters remaining. Though 140 characters sounds like a small amount you will want to keep your message short and to the point anyway.

As an example your message might be made up like this:

Greeting*	Hi Amanda

Reference*	AA1234567890

That's only 85 characters used. The items marked with (*) above are automatically filled in by the Flashtxt server. The Business Name and Reference Code fields are fixed. You are only required to fill in the details of the Offer and may edit the Contact information for single store promotions only. The Greeting is optional. If you do enable the Greeting you will need to allow 30 characters, but that still leaves plenty more space if you want to make the offer more detailed.
